Description
Job Summary: Grind a variety of aircraft parts. May assist lower grade operators as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Plan and perform sequences of operations to set up and operate internal, external, surface, and centerless grinders to produce parts meeting close tolerances and high quality finish requirements.
Determine machining operation sequences; select appropriate chucking devices or fixtures; and perform required machine setup and adjustments.
Mount, adjust, and dress grinding wheels and truing devices.
Mount and balance new grinding wheels as required.
Use precision measuring instruments, including shadowgraphs, air bore gauges, air plug gauges, surface analysis tools, dial indicator gauges, vernier calipers, and micrometers.
Maintain responsibility for the accuracy and quality of assigned work.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma, equivalent certificate, or Bronze level WorkKeys certification required.
Experience
- Minimum of one year of diversified grinder experience required.
Working Conditions
Typical machine shop environment.
May involve exposure to dirt, metal cuttings, and machining debris.
