Head of Planning – Maintenance & Engineering

Morson Edge are recruiting for an experienced Head of Planning to lead and develop planning activities across regulated Aerospace maintenance and production environments.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant and effective planning across multiple approvals, supporting predictable aircraft availability and operational delivery.
The Role
You will take ownership of long-range forecasting, short-term maintenance planning, production planning and cross-functional coordination across engineering, supply chain, quality and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

Lead the planning function across Part 145, Part 21G and BCAR A8-23 environments

Develop and implement planning policies, tools and processes

Provide strategic forecasting to support aircraft availability and contractual commitments
Maintenance & Production Planning

Oversee short-, medium- and long-term maintenance plans

Ensure accurate planning of manpower, tooling, materials and downtime

Maintain oversight of life-limited components and data integrity

Support production planning activities within Part 21G environments
Regulatory Compliance

Ensure planning activities meet regulatory and internal quality requirements

Support audits, findings close-out and continuous compliance improvement

Maintain robust planning documentation and records
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing planning team

Act as the primary planning interface across operations, engineering and supply chain

Provide clear, accurate planning data to senior leadership
Continuous Improvement

Drive improvements in planning accuracy, systems and workflows

Champion digital tools and data-driven planning approaches
Essential Requirements
-
Significant experience in maintenance planning within a regulated aviation environment

Strong knowledge of Part 145, Part 21G and/or BCAR A8-23 frameworks

Proven leadership experience managing planning teams

Experience delivering predictable aircraft availability in MRO or operational contexts

Strong analytical capability and attention to detail

Ability to obtain and hold Security Clearance (SC)
Desirable

Experience using Aerotrac or similar aviation ERP/MRO systems

Background supporting military or ex-military aircraft

Knowledge of MAA regulations and military airworthiness frameworks

Experience with digital transformation or planning system integration
