This role is responsible for maintaining buildings, grounds, and office areas in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. Working under close supervision with detailed instructions, the environmental service worker performs a variety of routine cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and polishing to support a safe, hygienic, and professional office environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned areas according to established standards and procedures.
• Sweep, mop, dust, and vacuum offices, hallways, entrances, and other designated spaces.
• Polish furniture, fixtures, and trimmings to maintain a neat and professional appearance.
• Report items needing repair and any hazardous conditions requiring correction to a supervisor promptly.
• Follow established antiseptic techniques and use appropriate solutions to clean and sanitize fixtures and restrooms.
• Gather and dispose of trash from designated areas and wash and sanitize waste containers.
• Observe all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational obligations whenever conducting business on behalf of the company.
• Work in a safe manner at all times, following established operating procedures and safety practices.
• Clean carpets when required using appropriate methods and equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required to support the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility.

• At least 6 months of janitorial experience in a commercial space; residential cleaning experience does not meet the requirements for this position.
• Proficiency in using cleaning equipment and solutions safely and effectively.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart or company vehicle for travel between buildings on campus, if required.
• U.S. citizenship due to the nature of the work.

• Previous experience maintaining office environments is beneficial.
• Familiarity with antiseptic cleaning techniques and restroom sanitation procedures.
• Attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility for safety and cleanliness.
• Reliability in adhering to early morning shift schedules.

Work Environment

The position is based at an office-only facility within the Torrey Pines campus, with no manufacturing operations at this location. The role follows a first-shift schedule from 4:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on a 9/80 work schedule, with no overtime. Work is performed indoors in office spaces, hallways, entrances, restrooms, and common areas, using standard janitorial equipment and cleaning solutions. The campus layout may require traveling between buildings using a golf cart or company vehicle. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures while providing access to on-site recreational amenities such as a swimming pool, gym, sand volleyball courts, tennis and pickleball courts, and gardens.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
