What are your contributions to the team?
As Director - Defense Capture & Proposals Programs at Bombardier Defense, you are responsible for leading a team that provides critical support to the Sales team resulting in the delivery of compelling, comprehensive proposals to a wide range of domestic and international customer in the defense domain. You will support the capture activity to convert proposals into realized contracts and ensure flawless handoff to the Program Execution team. The activities may span multiple years or be completed in a matter of weeks. This role exists within a growth area and offers potential to shape the future organization and your role within it.
In your initial role, you will:
• Lead and engage a multi-disciplinary team of direct reports and matrix-managed colleagues from Capture & Proposals, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Contracts, Legal and other functional areas.
• Manage Customer relationships, in conjunction with Sales, through regular effective Customer communications, proposal reviews and other engagements.
• Develop and implement an effective governance system to identify, track and manage all Capture and Proposal activity
• Recruit, develop and manage a highly functional multi-disciplinary team at multiple work locations (Canada, USA and internationally)
• Create and nurture transparent, authentic, and effective communication within the organization through collaborative leadership.
• Define and implement a lean, agile operating system for your team ensuring integration and compliance with Bombardier Policies and Procedures
How to thrive in this role?
• You have a Bachelor’s degree in business, law, finance, engineering or other aerospace relevant field
• You have 10+ years of relevant experience in a similar role at Director or Managerial level
• You have 5+ years of Customer facing experience including at higher levels of Industry, Government and Armed services
• You are recognized for being customer focused and having excellent Customer facing skills.
• You have excellent communication and negotiating skills combined with the ability to understand and interpret technical requirements, financial statements, contractual terms and conditions.
• You are recognized for your exceptional leadership and communication abilities to harness the full potential of the organization
• You have a broad yet through understanding of aircraft, their systems, operations and support requirement in a governmental or defense applications
• You have strong commercial acumen to develop compelling value propositions
• You have experience working with Industrial Technical Benefits, Offsets and other localization aspects associated with defense contract opportunities.
• You have the ability to work flexible, extended and/or irregular working hours, together with an ability to travel globally in line with business demands;
• You have working knowledge of Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
Mandatory
• You are eligible for Canadian Controlled Goods Program clearance (where appropriate) and/or US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) clearance
• You are eligible for security clearance at SECRET or above (where appropriate) in either Canada or US
Desired
• You have a Pilot license and general knowledge of aircraft operations in a Government / Military environment (Asset)
• You possess an advanced understanding of Bombardier’s aircraft development, certification and production process, (Asset)
• You are able to fluently communicate in both English and French (verbal & written) (Asset)
