Our Aircraft Manufacturing and Assembly Training Program is the perfect gateway to an exciting career with a leader in aviation and aerospace in Canada and the world. Training Program Overview Our intensive 12-week training program is designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in manufacturing and assembly. Participants will receive hands-on training, learn from industry experts, and gain practical experience in a simulated manufacturing environment. Upon successful completion of the program Graduates of the twelve-week academy will have the necessary knowledge and skills to begin their progression as a Sheetmetal Mechanic / Assembler job classification. Key Benefits of the Program Paid Training: Receive a competitive rate during your training program. The academy training program runs Monday to Friday. Once you have successfully completed the training, you will be moved to a position within the assembly and production areas and will work a Monday to Friday shift. Comprehensive Curriculum: Dive into a well-rounded curriculum covering manufacturing techniques, assembly processes, and industry-specific technologies. Hands-on Experience: Gain practical skills through immersive, hands-on activities in a state-of-the-art training facility. Expert Instruction: Specialized training from subject matter experts in riveting, drilling, reaming, installing special fasteners, technical drawing interpretation, aircraft sealing, torquing, installation of aircraft hardware and safety devices, etc. Career Growth: Upon successful graduation of the program, receive a permanent job opportunity and kick start your career in one of the fastest growing industries. Networking Opportunities: Connect with peers, instructors, and industry professionals, building a valuable network for future career growth. Duties & ResponsibilitiesStudy and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand assembly requirementsUtilize various hand tools, power tools, and machinery to cut, shape, and form sheet metal components according to specificationsAssemble sheet metal parts and components to create sub-assemblies or finished products, adhering to strict quality standardsConduct thorough inspections of assembled components to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to aerospace industry standardsUse precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances, making adjustments as necessarySafely handle and store sheet metal materials, ensuring proper organization and inventory controlWork closely with other members of the manufacturing team, including engineers and machinists, to achieve seamless integration of sheet metal components into larger assembliesAdhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, contributing to a safe and efficient working environmentEducation and Professional QualificationsCompletion of a high school diploma or equivalent is requiredAny technical or trades qualifications/certificates, or training would be considered an assetAbility to complete a criminal background checkSkills & ExperienceManufacturing, aerospace, warehousing or construction experience is considered an assetProficiency in using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal fabrication machineryAbility to interpret and understand drawings, blueprints, and technical specificationsStrong verbal and written communication skills (English)Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a teamExceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workCommitment to maintaining a safe working environment and following all safety guidelinesMust have and maintain the ability to legally work in Canada.At De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC), we are committed to protecting our people, customers, shareholders and the public through Health & Safety Excellence. As such, it is an expectation that all employees maintain strict adherence to Health & Safety Policies and to perform key physical tasks of the position described in the job description and interview process.
