The Payloads Organization within Boeing Commercial Aircraft is seeking Structures and Payload Design Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) in Everett or Renton, WA to support our Seats Integration Team (SIT). The Interiors of the airplane, along with the cargo compartments, exterior spanings, associated systems, and cabin safety all make up Payloads. We are how our airline customers fulfill their mission and represent their brand and shape how the public experiences flight. Our organization is a fast paced, dynamic environment, which pulls from many engineering backgrounds. Seat Engineers are responsible for managing the installation, integration, and certification of multiple development passenger seat programs into our Boeing aircrafts by overseeing supplier seat designs to ensure all customer, regulatory, and Boeing requirements are met.
To be successful requires extensive coordination with Customer Engineering, Payload Configuration, Supplier Management, Seat Suppliers, Airline Customers, numerous interfacing program commodity teams, regulatory administration, FAA, and factory personnel.
In addition, a strong engineering foundation is needed to review and approve supplier technical data, understand certification test requirements, prepare engineering releases to support seat and systems installations, author and release compliance summary reports.
A successful candidate must be able to represent the company professionally in demanding environments. Airline Customers and Seat Suppliers are located around the globe, requiring flexibility to support meeting at any time, as well the need for travel, domestically and internationally.
Payloads (Seats) are seeking candidates with experience in any of the following areas:
Engineering support and project leadership within a production system
Direct engagement working with/for aerospace suppliers or airlines
Validating/demonstrating compliance to regulatory requirements
Working with regulators
Design for manufacturing
Position Responsibilities:
Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
Works under general direction.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience working with or equivalent industry experience
Knowledge of payloads engineering releases and configuration management processes
Ability to travel (10-20 percent) International and Domestic
Possess strong attention to detail and effective collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal, within the team and externally.
Experience in CATIA, ENOVIA, IVT, DCCS, and REDARS
Experience in reviewing technical documents

Summary pay range for Associate (level 2 ): $80,750 - $109,250
Summary pay range for Mid Level (level 3): $96,050 - $129,950
