Mechanical Engineer

Job Description:

Position Summary: The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing electrical parts for retrofitting and modernizing obsolete equipment, including sheet metal, bus bars, and bracing. This role involves the design of switchboards and their components, supporting field measurements and surveys, and building a comprehensive catalog of parts and subsystems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Electrical Parts:
Develop detailed designs for electrical parts used in retrofitting and modernizing obsolete equipment, including sheet metal, bus bars, and bracing.
Create technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing and installation.
Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
Design Switchboards and Components:
Design switchboards and related components for various applications.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate designs into complete systems.
Conduct design reviews and validation to ensure reliability and performance.
Field Measurements and Surveys:
Support field measurements and surveys to gather accurate data for retrofit projects.
Work closely with field technicians to ensure measurements are precise and applicable to design requirements.
Analyze survey data to inform and refine design solutions.
Catalogue Development:
Build and maintain a comprehensive catalog of parts, components, and subsystems.
Organize and document design details, specifications, and application notes for easy reference.
Update the catalogue regularly to reflect new designs and modifications.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
3+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in retrofit and modernization projects.
Proficiency in CAD software and electrical design tools.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and manufacturing processes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Willingness to support field measurements and surveys as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with designing sheet metal, bus bars, and bracing for electrical applications.
Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations.
Familiarity with creating and maintaining technical catalogs.

Compensation: $100k
