We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to be part of our Discover Qatar Team as a Data Engineer in Doha

In this role, you will play a significant part in creating reliable architectures for building highly scalable data pipelines to collect a large amount of data from different sources and transform it into a usable format for analysis. The role involves designing, implement and maintain a full suite of real-time and batch jobs that fuels our cutting-edge data analytics platform to provide real-time intelligence to our businesses.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Be a full stack data engineer to build highly scalable, high quality data products.

• Create and maintain optimum data pipeline architecture for ingestion, storage, processing & transformation of data for building data products for analytics

• To ensure data product is complete and accurate, perform data validation through cleansing and defining the rule for detecting and managing outliers.

• Ensure Audit, Balance & Control are implemented for Consistent, Complete & Comprehensive Data Quality and Data Integrity management

• Ensure compliance to data strategy and governance and integrate organization’s data management processes in to data product development.

• Accountable for implementing modern-day security controls for sensitive data products for security compliance

• Write automated unit test cases for data products and their integration with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline to support agile development and reliability.

• Develop data quality routines for the data products to ensure high quality outcomes.

• Provide 24 / 7 support for the data products developed to ensure business continuity.

• Identifies and manages reference data in consultation with the respective business team to ensure their correctness and integrity

• Build solutions which are scalable, resilient and sustainable with technical architects to address business requirements.

• Tackle challenges and solve complex problems on daily basis to ensure minimal impact to the business operations.

• Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

About you

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (E.g Computer Science, Engineering, commerce, business administration or any related field)

Minimum 04 years professional of job-related experience

Hands-on data engineering experience in working with big data using technologies like Hadoop/Hive, Hyperscale PostgreSQL, Java/Scala, Spark, Kafka, SQL and NoSQL, Python, azure cloud-based data engineering solutions (ex: Azure Databricks, Google Big Query).

Experience on data tools, data modeling, data visualization, and pipeline design & development.

Experience with data warehouse platforms (ex Azure Data bricks, Google Big Query).

Experience with Alteryx, visualization tools - Tableau, Power BI.

Strong technical knowledge of performance tuning and query optimization on large data sets

You’ll have an edge if you have:

Knowledge of airline domain.

Knowledge of agile/lean development methodologies.
