Job Description:

As Advanced Hardware Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Military Avionics business unit in Phoenix, Arizona. In this role, you will drive product integrity, manufacturing output, and continuous improvement initiatives by collaborating closely with factory operations, demand planning, design engineering, and sourcing teams. Additionally, this position leads product improvement efforts and reports directly to the Avionics Engineering Manager.

In this role, you will impact our Military Avionics business unit by providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the quality and efficiency of our engineering processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and implement best practices. Your attention to detail and ability to solve complex problems will be instrumental in meeting project deadlines and delivering high-quality results.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and maintain Product Structure, Work Order Cards, Standard Shop Procedures, SOS, and Product Risk Analyses for development and mature products
  • Maintain product configuration by incorporating design changes into production documentation
  • Lead and support Lean activities in the Cell to support the Honeywell Operating System Implementation.  Develop Standard Operating Sheets, Standard Combination Sheets and product risk analyses.
  • As a technical focal point for the Cell, lead Root Cause and Corrective Action analyses, implement improvements to eliminate defects, improve product quality and yield
  • Lead Cost of poor quality and Cycle Time reduction activities in the Cell
  • Lead/Support in FAI process
  • Initiate and lead improvement activities in Assembly processes, material, and inventory
  • Initiate Request for Material Review Action, provide disposition proposal, and implement Material Review Board recommendations
  • Analyze supplier-related defects, coordinate material return process with supplier quality Engineer and improve suppliers’ performance
  • Assist in resolving supplier technical issues arising from deviation requests, design ambiguities and manufacturability
  • Lead product return related investigations, implement preventive measures, propose product design and manufacturing process improvements to eliminate escapes
  • Provide design for special, custom-made tools and fixtures.

 


Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Engineering Technician or a related role.
  • Strong technical skills in mechanical systems and components.
  • Experience leading a team of technicians.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Solid working knowledge of Engineering change implementation
  • Run and manage data reporting and PC application skills such as Excel and macros
  • Manufacturing and Materials Engineering skills as applied in an aerospace electronics assembly environment.
  • Knowledge of J-Standard, IPC, MIL –specs, and quality systems.
