POSITION / OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW

• We are seeking an experienced Avionics Technician to support a full-service FAA-certified repair station located in Western Pennsylvania. This facility specializes in turboprop and light/mid-size business jet aircraft, providing avionics installation, troubleshooting, modification, and system upgrade services across a diverse fleet.
• This role is hands-on and fast-paced, ideal for a technician who takes pride in precision workmanship and enjoys working across a wide range of avionics systems, upgrades, and aircraft platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform avionics installations, modifications, and upgrades on turboprop and light/mid-size business jet aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer data, and repair station procedures.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair avionics, electrical, navigation, communication, flight control, and aircraft wiring systems.
• Install and test avionics equipment including (but not limited to):
• Communication and navigation systems
• GPS, FMS, and flight displays
• Autopilot systems
• Transponders, ADS-B, and radar systems
• Audio panels and intercom systems
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, installation drawings, and technical manuals.
• Perform system operational checks, functional testing, and post-installation verification.
• Open and close aircraft panels, remove and reinstall interiors and avionics components as required for maintenance and modification work.
• Collaborate closely with A&P mechanics, sheet metal technicians, interior teams, and quality inspectors on aircraft modification and refurbishment projects.
• Accurately complete logbook entries, work orders, and installation documentation in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant workspace, including hangar areas and shared facilities.
• Properly handle, tag, and track avionics components and parts throughout the maintenance process.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently or as part of a team, often under time-sensitive schedules or mission-critical deadlines.
• Communicate clearly with leads, supervisors, and quality teams to ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule.
• Utilize basic computer systems for work order management, documentation, and parts tracking.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• 7+ years of avionics maintenance experience on turboprop and/or business jet aircraft.
• Recent hands-on experience performing avionics installs, modifications, and troubleshooting.
• Strong ability to read and interpret avionics schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations, service bulletins, STCs, and repair station procedures.
• Experience with aircraft electrical systems, wiring repairs, and connector build-up.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and use basic computer applications.
• Ability to complete a pre-employment 7-year Criminal Background Check, and standard FAA DOT drug test.
• Reliable personal transportation/vehicle required.
• Valid US Driver’s License.
• Proof of US Citizenship.
• MUST have basic tools/box.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, climb, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the work shift.
• Lift or move up to 50 lbs independently and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions typical of Pennsylvania, including dust, humidity, rain, sleet, snow, heat, and cold.
• Work may involve exposure to chemicals, gases, fumes, noise, and heights.
• Must be willing to work day or night shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed.
